This is my third year teaching at Kopperl ISD. Year 3 marks some big changes in my daily schedule at Kopperl. I have moved from teaching junior high math all day to spending my days in Special Education with the exception of one pclass period when I will still teach 7th grade Math.
Kopperl is not new to me, because I was a substitute teacher/aide for Kopperl starting in 1997 until 2004 in every grade and subject Pre-K through 12 th grade and ISS. During that time, I was able to figure out what grades and subjects were best suited for me. I started my teaching career in 2007 at Keene Junior HIgh teaching 8th US History, 7th grade Math, and 8th grade Math Support. In 2009, I made the move to Blum Elementary. I taught 5th grade Math and Science for 13 years. In 2022, I was able to hire on here in Kopperl and started teaching 5th – 7th Math, the next year I added teaching 8th grade Math and high school World Geography.
I started teaching Sunday School when I was in junior high in the children’s department. From 1996 to 2016, I taught children’s and youth Sunday School at First Baptist Church Kopperl. In 2016, I started teaching girls’ Bible study 6th through 12th grade until that group of girls graduated at Cleburne Bible Church where my family currently attends.
My husband, David, and I moved to Kopperl in 1991 when we got married. My husband grew up in Crowley, and I grew up in Mansfield/Everman splitting time with my parents.
We have two kids who attended Kopperl from Pre-K until they graduated. Katy graduated in 2012. She is married, has two kids, and is working in the medical field, Clint graduated in 2018. He is married and is working in the surverying industry as a party chief. I have two grandchildren. Levi is 3 years old and loves being outdoors, dinosaurs, and trucks. Sawyer is 6 months old, and she loves hearing her voice.
I have one dog, Sadie. She adopted us in 2012 when she wandered up. She is a border collie/lab and enjoys french fries, especially Chik-fil-A’s fries.
My favorite thing to do is to hang out with my family. Family has always been important in my life growing up with 4 sisters and 1 brother. Grandkids has just added another level of fun! My husband and I enjoy trying new places to eat as well as hunting and range shooting. Church has been and will be the most important piece of life.
