Abilene Christian University in Abilene with a MSEd in 2010.

Professional Experience

Current Position:

This is my 32nd  year in education.  I started my career as a junior high coach at H.F. Stevens MS in Crowley ISD in 1991-93.  I moved up to Crowley HS as the varsity basketball assistant for the next three years (93-96).  I was a head boys basketball coach for 18 years at Alvarado (96-04), Maypearl (04-07), DeLeon (07-10), and Valley Mills (10-14).  As a teacher, I taught History.  The last five years I have been an assistant principal at Bell’s Hill Elementary in Waco ISD.  I am now the principal for Kopperl ISD going on four years and loving it.  

Family Information:

I have been married for 29 years to Jody Davenport Janek.  She is the school counselor at Kopperl ISD.  I have three awesome kids.  Blake is 28 and runs Davenport Septic Services.  Jacie is 26 and is a stay home mom.  Jenna is 2 and currently a PK teacher in Mansfield ISD.  All are married and doing great.  I now have two wonderful granddaughters Brindlee and Landrie.
